For my blog post today, my Fiance and I thought it would be fun to share with you guys both of our top ten five-star rated books that we read this past year in 2023. We are both readers so I thought it would be fun to share with everyone what books we loved this year and why.

I love having a significant other who loves books and reading just as much as I do. I love buddy reading with him and having our own book club! It makes life that much more enjoyable to have someone to share a hobby with. Plus, because he is also a reader, he never tells me I cannot buy said book or I will never hear him say, "You have too many books." He knows books and I are a packaged deal and loves books just as much. Between the two of us, our library and bookshelves are pretty impressive!

1. Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman: Second book in the arc of Scythe series. It was even better than the first and ends in a way where I had to start the third book almost immediately.

2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin by Kevin Eastman: Action-packed story following the last living Ninja Turtle seeking revenge for his lost family. Very enjoyable read.

3. Do a Powerbomb by Daniel Warren Johnson: Very fun wrestling comic book with an interesting twist. I am not a wrestling fan by any means and I loved it.

4. Scythe by Neal Shusterman: Death is now a thing of the past until a Scythe shows up. This book was an amazing read I did not want to put it down.

5. My Hero Academia Volume 32 by Kohei Horikoshi: An all-out battle is looming. Izuku Midoriya's powers are manifesting while he is out on his own. Great action to what is to come.

6. Reckless Friend of the Devil by Ed Brubaker: A really well-written comic following a lady's disappearance when getting involved with the wrong people. Great detective series.

7. Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour (Volume 6) by Bryan Lee O'Malley: A really good ending to a really good comic series. Was fun all around.

8. Solo Leveling Volume 7 by Chugong: Lots of action in this volume. This comic book is not afraid to kill off strong hunters.

9. My Hero Academia Volume 36 by Kohei Horikoshi: Shows off a lot of the supporting characters and their growths as heroes. Action is amazing in this volume.

10. Fables: March of the Wooden Soldiers (Volume 4) by Bill Willingham: Fable story really picks up in Volume 4 as a war is looming.

1. The Serpent and The Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent: I am around 200 pages into this novel and I know already it's going to be a five-star read for me and my favorite from this year. I plan to finish before the end of the new year because I cannot put it down. It's Twilight meets The Hunger Games. Easily going to be one of my new favorite fantasy reads ever!

2. Pen Pal by J.T. Geissinger: Easily one of my new favorite books of all time. This was amazing and breathtaking. I love a good paranormal romance involving ghosts!

3. If He Had Been with Me by Laura Nowlin: Such an amazing friends-to-lovers story. Heartbreaking and a major tear-jerker! I loved every single second of this book.

4. Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman: The second book in the Scythe series. Ended on a huge cliffhanger. I love these characters so much and I am highly invested in their stories. The second book is rarely even better than the first in a series but this one was even better than the first.

5. Scythe by Neal Shusterman: Makes you question what is important in life and how immortality isn't necessarily a good thing. Love this dystopian novel!

6. Paper Girls Volume 1 by Brian K. Vaughan: Stranger Things meets time travel with badass teenage girls! This series is addicting and an instant favorite.

7. What Lovers Do by Jewel E. Ann: A friends-to-lovers story with substance. I loved the dogs in this book and that it was also set in Phoenix, AZ where I live.

8. I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jeannette McCurdy: A Heartbreaking memoir of a child star. I related a lot to Jeannette and her story.

9. Saga Volume 2 by Brian K. Vaughan: I am so invested in this graphic novel series. The romance is everything. Brian K. Vaughan writes the best stories.

10. Paper Girls Volume 3 by Brian K. Vaughan: The girls are back and better than ever in this volume! I loved all the pop-culture references and time travel at its best!
