Welcome to TTT! I cannot believe it is already the start of a whole new week. Today, is my grandpa's birthday! Happy Birthday Bub Bub. Even though, you probably won't see this.. since, he is not a reader. I still had to say it though. He is like a father to me. The topic this week sounds really fun. Anyway, the topic for the week is “Opening Lines” and you can interpret this any way you want. Best, favorite, funny, unique, shocking, gripping, lines that grabbed you immediately, etc. I have decided to list my top ten opening paragraphs from some of my favorite books. Quarantine life is getting extremely old if you ask me. I cannot wait for the day when I can go to the library or a bookstore again and not have a panic attack or feel scared to do so.
As always, you can find past Top Ten Tuesday topics @ www.thatartsyreadergirl.com
Which books have particularly noteworthy opening lines?
Have you read any of the books that I listed above?
How is your quarantine going?
xoxo,

The How & The Why sounds so good!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT .
I love it so much. It is a great five star read that you should check out.
DeleteFun quotes! I like that you included the whole first paragraph. I realized when putting my list together yesterday that first lines don't always work the way they're supposed to without the rest of the sentences in their paragraph. It's been interesting to see people commenting on an opening line that sounds funny on its own, but is actually super sad when combined with the rest of the paragraph.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Yeah, I wanted to include the whole paragraph because it makes more sense than just one line. Plus, it gets people more inclined to pick up the book to read.
DeleteGreat list. I enjoyed them.

Thank you for stopping by :)
DeleteI've only read It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover from your list. I'll have to add some of these books to my TBR. Based on the first line, My Life with the Walter Boys by Ali Novak seems really good!
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT.
Yes, it is one of my five star reads! You have to pick it up and try it. It is one cute read.
DeleteGreat list! Love the opening to Turtles All the Way Down. I still need to read it...
ReplyDeleteMan, John Green has always been one of my favorite authors. You have to pick it up.
DeleteUm, "At the time I first realized I might be fictional" ???? That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe Hating Game sounds promising also.
