It is finally October and I am so excited for Halloween! The fall is my favorite time of year. As of right now, I am visiting in Pennsylvania helping my Grandma recover from surgery. Fall is in the air here. I drove around today and the leaves are changing. It's absolutely breathtaking compared to the Arizona desert.
My indulgence with farm grown apples is at an ultimate high since I got here last week. Macintosh apples are my favorite and I cannot get them in Arizona! Arizona doesn't have much of a fall and it's still hot there. So, I am soaking up my east coast fall weather.
My dog, Tinkerbell is in heaven with all the grass and nice weather to run around in. The smile on her face makes me smile. If you didn't know already, I am kind of obsessed with my dog. She did amazing on the plane for the first time. She freaked out a little but eventually calmed down. By the second flight, she was completely fine.
I read some good books in September. Completing four books with one DNF. I finally completed my Goodreads reading challenge too and have read 50 books so far this year! WOW!!
Books I Read:
Favorite Book:
My favorite book this month was It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. This was a pleasant surprise for me. I was not expecting to enjoy this story as much as I did. It was a fast contemporary read that I enjoyed from start to finish.
Biggest Letdown:
The book that I didn't finish was Ellie Kemper's memoir, My Squirrel Days. I had been looking forward to reading this memoir for a long time since I love Ellie but sadly, I was so bored that many times it put me to sleep. Expecting it to be funny, I didn't even laugh once. Halfway through the book, I just gave up reading it.
Book Reviews Written:
I completed three book reviews this month. This is better than some other months.
Blog Posts Written:
This month, I completed quite a bit of discussion posts seven, to be exact. Autumn Tag - Are you ready for sweater weather? was my favorite post by far. It was a lot of fun to write. This doesn't include book blitzes, cover reveals, book tour announcements, wrap ups, and book reviews.

October Releases I am excited for:
Songs of the month:
The Neighbourhood - Sweater Weather
Rescue My Heart - Liz Longley
Tv Show:
I am halfway through the third season of Stranger Things and I am obsessed! All my favorite kids are back. The 80s references and clothes make me smile.
Movies:
I rewatched Juno and it is just as good as I remembered it. All the funny one liners are the best.
I went to the movies with my mom and saw The Art of Racing In The Rain. Super skeptical to see the movie adaption because the book is one of my favorites. However, it was amazing! Done amazingly. It translated well to film because unlike most movies the narrator's inner monologue is often left out. In the movie, the dog is still the story's narrator so you still get to see the main character's innermost thoughts. My mom and I both laughed and cried. It's such a feel great movie. Make sure you have lots of tissues if you watch it.
Overall, it was a pretty successful month. What did you read this month? What were some of your favorites? I love hearing about my readers' months.
What awesome plans do you have for October?
I have nothing on my agenda so far. Just helping out my Grandparents still and nursing my Grandma back to health.
xoxo,

You read good books and this is a cool post. Thanx for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by :) I am glad that you enjoyed it.
DeleteThe Lying Room looks like it's going to be a chilling read! I'm definitely looking into it. I've heard mixed things about CLo's novel so I'm not rushing to get it after their previous novel wasn't the greatest for me.
ReplyDeleteI am still excited for it. I hope it goes better for you.
DeleteThis post was really fun! I hope you're having a great time in Pennsylvania (if you are still there). Oooh, It Ends With Us sounds like a great read! *adds to TBR*
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely October, Emily! <3 <3 <3

DeleteI know, I really want to!
I can picture your pup enjoying the cool grass and weather. I love the fresh apples we have around here with all the orchards and cider mills too. I make apple bread and pies with some of them. I read Fountains of Silence and loved it. I even got to meet Ruta Sepetys at Barnes and Noble. She is amazing and I didn't realize she used to live in the next town over from me.
ReplyDeleteCan you say jealous much? Gosh, I need to read Fountains of Silence so bad. It's on my tbr. My dog has been in heaven! Sadly, I am going back to the desert nov 13 :(
DeleteI love that you're in love with your pup! So sweet!
ReplyDeleteSorry you weren't a fan of Kemper's book---I would have expected it to be funny as well.
